Orthopedics

What is an Orthopedic Physiotherapist? Orthopedic physiotherapists have advanced education and skills to assess and treat injuries and conditions that involve the skeleton (bones), muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. You can summarize all of these structures by the term “musculoskeletal”. This this is usually the area of physiotherapy most people think about when they think of Physiotherapists.

As an Orthopedic Physiotherapist, I treat neck and back pain, dysfunctions of the bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments. This is a very broad spectrum of practice, treating anything from arthritis to sports injuries to deconditioning to chronic pain.

My goal for all of my patients is to teach them everything I know about what I find during an assessment and through follow up appointments. Together my patients and I work towards their recovery as quickly as possible. I ultimately want my patients to learn how to treat themselves! This way, if they have the same issue again years later, they’ll know exactly what to do. I truly believe that the whole purpose of going to physiotherapy is so you don’t have to go to physiotherapy!
